I had a little pizza dough left over in the refrigerator last night so I decided to try my hand at some breadsticks. I love Little Ceasar’s Crazy Bread and have attempted something similar several times, to no avail. This time, while I can’t say they were an exact match, I would rate them at a close second for sure! Soft, buttery and garlicy. For the pizza dough recipe, see my previous post. One batch of pizza dough will make three batches of breadsticks (18 sticks).
1/3 batch pizza dough (see prior post for recipe)
1/2 tablespoon corn meal
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon Johnny’s Garlic Spread seasoning (contains parmesean cheese, garlic as well as other spices)
Preaheat oven to 450 degrees and arrange rack to lowest position in oven. Sprinkle a 9×9 cake pan with corn meal. Melt butter in a little dish or pan. On a well-floured board, roll out pizza dough gently and evenly to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut dough into 6 equal strips and transfer to baking pan. Basting with butter every 5 minutes, bake breadsticks 15-18 minutes or until golden on top, Remove pan from oven and drizzle/baste all of the remaining butter on top of the sticks, sprinkle with garlic spread, and cover pan with another pan or plate. Let rest 5 minutes. Turn pan upside down onto serving plate. Serve hot with a little marinara sauce. YUM!
