Slop-Sloppy Joes

A recipe title inspired by “Lunch-lady Land”, an Adam Sandler song/comedy from back when I was a teenager. Homemade sloppy joes are easy, budget friendly – and kids love them!

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (try pork or turkey too) browned & drained
1 medium onion, finely diced
1-2 tbs butter
1 16 oz can tomato sauce
1 16 oz can diced tomatoes
1-2 Tbs concentrated tomato paste
2 tsp chili powder
1 Tbs onion powder
2 Tbs brown sugar
2 tsp Worcestershire
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
1/4 tsp black pepper

Brown ground beef then drain excess oil. Return meat to the pan over medium-high heat. Add butter and onion, cooking until onions become translucent. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Smash large chunks of tomato with your spatula as you go along. When mixture begins to bubble, lower heat to medium-low. Allow to cook uncovered (a splatter screen is recommended) 10-20 minutes, stirring occasionally or until desired thickness is reached.

Serve on buns & enjoy! I like to add cheese to mine and serve on toasty buns.
