These candy cane-kissed krispie treats are a snap to make and disappear even faster. The perfect holiday treat for little (or big) hands!
Candy Cane Rice Krispie Treats
10 cups Rice Krispie Cereal (you can use a store brand if you like but I like the original stuff)
1 package marshmallows
½ stick (1/4 cup) butter plus a little to coat pan
3-4 candy canes (feel free to add or subtract according to taste)
Unwrap candy canes, place in a large Ziploc bag and smash to bits using your rolling pin or other blunt object. Some pieces will be bigger or smaller. Grease a 9×13 pan with a little butter.
In a large pot on medium low heat, melt together marshmallows and butter, stirring frequently. Melt until smooth and just a few not fully-melted marshmallows remain. Remove from heat. All at once, pour in Rice Krispies and stir until fully coated. Stir in candy canes until well combined. Pour mixture into prepared pan and press mixture together. Let cool, cut and enjoy!
