Yep, it’s exactly what it sounds like – chocolate cake, with marshmallow crème filling, coated in fudge. It’s so wrong on so many levels. My only regret, however, is that I didn’t add nuts.
For those regular readers of this blog, who saw Bad Cake Happens Part 1 – Chocolate Pistachio Torte, know that I recently had a semi-failed chocolate cake, but was left with several rounds of cake that I just couldn’t throw out. Around the same time, I was also on a mission to make fudge. Nothing extra fancy – just the recipe on the back of the Kraft Marshmallow Crème, which is a pretty solid recipe.
As I stood, stirring my boiling pot of fudge, I just happened to catch a glimpse of the orphaned cake rounds. On the other side of the counter was a jar of “oz zo” (Marshmallow crème – it’s a story for another day). Working quickly, I sandwiched the rounds with some marshmallow crème. When the fudge came to temperature, I placed several dollops of it on waxed paper, placed my chocolate and marshmallow “sandwiches” on top and then coated them again in the hot fudge. Disgustingly delicious!
This will keep several days, covered on the counter at room temperature.
